Vote YES on P to protect quality education in Tahoe Truckee Schools by renewing expiring local school funding.
Thanks to great teachers, innovative academic programs, and strong support from the community, Tahoe Truckee Unified School District is recognized for success in preparing local students for college and good jobs.
Since 1989, TTUSD has relied upon local school parcel tax funding that represents over 6% of the school district budget. For over 45 years, this funding has supplemented unstable and inadequate funding from the State that only supports basic education. Unless renewed by voters, this funding will expire soon and over $5,000,000 will need to be cut, forcing teacher layoffs, academic program reductions, and increased class sizes.

Voting YES on P renews expiring school funding to continue:

Supporting programs in science, technology, engineering and math
Attracting and retaining highly qualified teachers

Maintaining career training programs for in-demand fields like health sciences and skilled trades

Maintaining manageable class sizes
Measure P also continues strict fiscal accountability, oversight, and transparency protections, including:

All money raised would stay local and could not be taken by the county, state, or federal governments

An independent oversight committee, annual audits, and public spending disclosure would continue to ensure funds are spent as promised

All funds go straight to teaching and classroom instruction, and no funds can be used for administrator salaries

Homeowners age 65 and older would continue to be eligible for an exemption and do not need to reapply
Even if you don’t have school-age children, supporting quality education in local schools is a wise investment. Good schools improve the quality of life in our community and protect the value of our homes.
